We must take all types of foods. And this ranges from foods sourced out of plants; and, foods sourced out of animals.
There are some nutrients that are unlikely to be found in a required level, if you solely desire to eat on foods sourced from plants, or perhaps, foods sourced from animals.
So you have to take your diet from both sources if you desire to reach an optimum level of health and fitness.
For plants, we have the legumes. These include peanuts, peas, beans and soybeans. You can have many dishes from these categories of foods such as bean salad, bean pies or chips, soups, sauces, pea or peanut butter for food spreads, bean cakes, paste, and even common baked beans. All these are examples of legumes you can embark to take regularly, for they are hugely wholesome to the body.
We also have fruits, of which the list are endless; but would point out a few here. Apricot, apple, banana, blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry, coconut, date, gooseberry, grapefruit, guava, guanabana, kiwifruit, lemon, lime, lychee, orange, olive, papaya, passion fruit, pineapple, pawpaw, pear, pomegranate, pineapple, pumpkin, raspberry, strawberry, tangerine, and watermelon.
Though we can further group these fruits into pomes, drupes, berries, and the like, they are all fruits and are to be eaten should we get the chance to take them.
Concerning vegetables, they include asparagus, beetroot, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, carrot, celery, dandelion, garlic, lettuce, onion, radish, spinach, turnips, and the like.
Vegetables are notably known for use in dishes, and sometimes as herbs. You can consider to use them in a vast proportion when you are preparing salads, sauces, soups, gravies, special spices or even fillings for pies. They can do notably well whenever you add them to dishes, and they go a long way to better the general aroma or fragrance of the dishes you are preparing.
Now, we have nuts and seeds which are also very necessary for us to embark to take. There are some nuts as well as seeds, which are not edible for us to consume, so we should be careful to realize that what we are embarking to consume is indeed safe for the body to take. We have chestnuts, hazelnuts, almond, cashew, kola nut, palm nuts, walnuts, and the like for nuts. For seeds we can consider, lotus seed, sunflower seeds and what have you. There are many ways to consume these nuts and seeds, either by taking them raw, adding them to already prepared foods or even cooking them.
You can use them in cakes, cookies, hot or cold beverages, biscuits, or even chew them just like that.
Now you can also consider cereals. Generally, these are grass cultivated for the edible components of its grain. When they mature they produce grains having high nutrient content, which can serve our body well.
These include rice, wheat, millet, maize, barley, oats, sorghum, and what have you.
These are popularly known to be ground to flour, and used for baking purposes. But when eaten in a form of a prepared dish, most of them prove to be very relishing and tasty.
We have popular rice dishes, porridges, and maize dishes all prepared with cereals. Even they can be processed for pastas. These include spaghetti, macaroni, and tasty instant noodles also.
Next, we have edible fungi also simply known to be mushrooms. These are good to take, but ensure they are edible for not all mushrooms are wholesome for the body to have.
For animals, food substances sourcing from them are equally enormous like the plants. Also, they have their unique nutrient contents, so have to be blended with plant food substances so that on the whole, a perfect body blooming with health and attractiveness would exist in an individual.
Now we have dairy products. These are food produced from the milk of mammals. The milk from notable animals like dairy cows, goats, sheep and camels are processed for mostly commercial use.
We have butter, yogurt, milk powder, condensed milk, cheese, evaporated milk, ice cream, milkshake, and the like.
Most of the time the milk, butter or cheese would not be taken as it is, rather it would be used as a filling for sandwiches or burgers, sauces, toppings of pizza, flavors for soups, and also to ensure that chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry ice-creams taste just perfect. Dishes prepared out of dairy products would most of the time have a high level of cholesterol and fat in them, so when taking them ensure you take them in moderation, or better still, have a health expert to guide your intake on those foods.
We also have meat. This is simply, the flesh of animals that is taken as food. The list of meat here can be endless, and most domestic pets you might as well have may even include them.
Wild animals also found in the forest areas can also give man good meat, and they are not left out when it comes to animal flesh we like to consume.
A number of animal flesh we eat include, chicken, pig, cattle, sheep, ostrich, deer, duck, rabbit, squirrel, guinea pig and even, cat and dog.
This is where we have hot dog, sausage, bacon, kebabs, pork, shredded beef, as well as boneless beef.
When used for soups and stews, animal meat can make them very sumptuous.
Next, we have eggs. The ones we consume are mostly bird eggs.
On the outside the eggs are covered by hard shells, but on the inside they have the egg yolk and egg white, which is meant for consumption.
Chicken and duck eggs are examples of eggs we consume. Sometimes, we would like the egg boiled, and sometimes we like them fried. But they both taste perfectly sweet when you eat them.
Now eggs can be used for soups, salads, fillings for sandwiches, and even, simple omelette.
Eggs are commonly used as garnishing for foods and are able to make dishes taste even tastier.
Lastly when it comes to animals, we shall include seafoods. These notably include fishes. Here are some fishes we can embark to take regularly in our diets. Tuna, salmon, mackerel, herring, sardine, tilapia, and cod.
They are all good dietary foods we can endeavor to eat regularly. However, there are other forms of sea-life foods we like to eat. Octopus, shrimps, prawns, lobsters and crabs are all seafoods, and we like them.
Seafoods are highly nutritious food substances and so we should embark to take them often. Some of these fishes are also termed as oily fishes, so we can derive oils from them. Examples of these are, sardines, tuna, mackerel and salmon.
Seafoods generally are a rich source of vitamin A and vitamin D, that performs needful functions for the body. Also, fishes have a special fatty acid known as Omega-3. This is so much required for the body that, they are most of the time extracted and used as dietary supplements that are commercially sold, exclusively.
Considering oils, they cannot be particularly grouped into animal foods. For there are very relevant oils too that can be derived from plants. And a couple of these are sunflower, olive and coconut oil.
Taking oils whether from seafoods or plant sources, are required. And we must regularly take them in our diet just like we must take general foods from both plant and animal sources.
